Lead by Yovia’s founder, Jalali Hartman, Yovia's research team studied the data and began to see order in the chaos. They noted what things went “viral” (got passed around by just about everyone), they saw how online communities at sites like MySpace and Facebook influenced marketing, they developed viral campaigns of their own, and they wrote case studies to document what they saw. The Breakthrough
Yovia developed the idea of Social Velocity to “predict” if a viral campaign would actually spread. As it turns out, viral doesn’t mean random. Social Velocity creates exponential, organic growth and is far more effective and far less expensive than traditional advertising methods. People in a network who tell each other about something are more likely to trust each other, buy the recommended product or service, and tell others about it.
