Wendy Venturini supports familie’s three generations of NASCAR
Wendy was torn aobut how she could enter the NASCAR world along with her families racing team, Venturini Motorsports, who has been racing for 35 years. Her Grandfather raced, her Dad Bill is a 2-time ARCA Champion, and her brother Billy is a winner in the ARCA and as of late a winning crew chief for their other development drivers. Wendy has been around NASCAR all of her life just soaking it in, was never interested in racing, but still wanted to be apart of her families NASCAR lives.
“I spent my whole childhood going from track to track, city to city, and I was basically a sponge taking in all this knowledge and experience in that garage area. When I was in high school and got involved with SkillsUSA, I really wasn’t sure how I could stay involved in the family business, because I didn’t want to race.”
A teacher was just the push she needed to realize how she could join the family fun.
“My adviser, Randy Basinger, approached me to get involved,” the 1997 graduate says. “He handed me a list of possible things I could compete in and said, ‘What can you do on this list?’ I handed it back to him and said, ‘I don’t know how to do any of that,” and he handed it back to me and said, ‘Look again.’ ”
She then realized that she was a good speaker, which lead her to her to become a full-time pit-reporter on the NASCAR Sprint Cup series pre-race show, NASCAr Raceday, and also a reporter on DirecTV’s NASCAR Hot Pass.
She has been able to keep up with her families tradition, and she also takes another interest in interior design. She has a very inexpensively decorated but very nice house, because she always finds the great deals.
