IndyCar To Debut New Sponsor

IndyCar baffled everyone recently when they announced that their newest title sponsor had nothing to do with automobiles of any sort. They picked Izod out of all possible candidates for sponsorship. The reason behind this was “It’s lifestyle, it’s trendy, it’s fashion, and as you go down the list it’s about as good as you could get,” according to Zak Brown who owns and leads Zionsville-based Just Marketing, which sells sports sponsorship packages.

It’s not official until Thursday when they hold the official press release at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but it’s been confirmed through various news outlets. The deal is rumored to be a whopping $10 million a year for at least 5 years to be split various ways in Izod’s marketing campaign and localized advertisements. An IndyCar official said that Izod’s campaign will be mostly focused on the speed of the cars in the league.
