Bears Look to End the Year on a High Note Against the Vikings
As we all know, the Chicago Bears got off to a great start this season. The team opened up strong against Atlanta with a win on opening weekend, but then faltered in their next two meetings against New Orleans and Green Bay. But then the Bears got on a hot streak during October and November, winning five games in a row and taking the number two seed in their division.
The wheels came off in November, though, when the team dropped five straight, including a tough overtime loss against the Denver Broncos in Week 14. As the end of 2011 approaches, the Bears are hoping to end the year strong with a victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
One thing that works in the Bears’ favor in tomorrow’s game is that the Vikings will be without their star running back Adrian Peterson, who is out for the season with an injured ACL and MCL. This should give the Bears’ rush defense a break, since the team is currently allowing the sixth most opponent rushing yards in the league. But Chicago also has to work on its passing yardage. Currently, the Bears are 26th overall in passing, with just 192 average passing yards per game. If the Bears can sharpen their passing skills and stop the run against Minnesota, the team stands a good chance of starting off 2012 on a good foot.
