Ive talked about opensource in my previous post.. now id like to talk about the opposite ; shareware. Its an evil word and something all opensource developers hate.
Shareware is a means of cutting out the middle man (or middle men). Shareware is actually on multiple web sites and also it is hard not to ball straight into this. The most used spots to locate shareware will be inside a large number of obtain your local library, though the businesses (and even impartial programmers at the rear of shareware) tend to be more and more supplying shareware from their own sites. Another example of a shareware blog will be some bluray ripper blogs, these blogs can be easily seen by searching in google.. the highest ranking ones are usually shareware. Shareware is rarely found on non-Macintosh Unix -like operating systems, which may be due to the corporate use of Unix until the advent of Linux , which championed free software as opposed to shareware. But it is more likely due to the fact that the Unix/Linux market is still small compared to MS Windows thus drastically reducing the “shareware licensing fee” potential.

I have given a lot of thought to this subject and I have finally decided that the blu ray ripper software that I develop will be open source and will most probably be hosted here and at sourceforge. There are a lot of reasons why I made this decision and ill explain some of those in this post. [I understand I have another review blog that I linked to earlier but thats another story and is one of the reasons why I want to develop opensource.]
Opensource is kind of a philosophical platform with openness being its defining “property”. We don’t have to worry about the literal constructs of do we have to use GPL on web services blah blah blah. Opensource is about collaborating in development, while free software is just what its name says. So, Ubuntu is a opensource and thus the choice is – one either pays for a expensive proprietary software or gets his hands dirty and join a community of hard working and dedicated IT professionals. OpenSource is big world, just to give idea there are more than 2000 OpenSource products for content management systems. So, typically OpenSource vendors work on two or three open source products normally CMS or Shopping cart applications, whereas KTree has expertise and resources on most of the open source products.
