I’m not a big fan of courtrooms. They feel tense to me, and really, that makes sense… Being in court means being part of a legal conflict, and conflicts of any kind can be a source of tension, stress and negative feelings.

I don’t have a boat or jetski. But I WISH I did, and if you’re one of the lucky people who does have them, you have my eternal jealousy (and my eternal request for a ride on your boat). If you are lucky enough to have a boat AND live on the water, you probably have a dock, as well.

I went to college at a small liberal arts school on the east coast. It was a beautiful campus with a broad, green lawn that invited students to sit and study, play Frisbee or just lie in the sun. On my first day at school, as I was walking past that lovely lawn, I noticed a group of guys playing something I hadn’t seen in person before: lacrosse. They were tossing a ball around with sticks that were fitted with nets at the top, and I stopped for a minute to watch. It was pretty fascinating, how easily they could catch and throw the ball with those sticks. It looked like a lot of fun, too.
Later, I saw my first lacrosse game, and it was far less laidback than the boys on the lawn had been! Here was a tough, athletic sport that required pads and helmets for safety. The players had physical strength and athleticism to spare, but they also had skills and style that were pretty amazing to watch. It was like the best parts of my favorite sports had come together into one: the brute force of football, the stick handling of hockey, and the open field of soccer, all right there in lacrosse.
