Daniel’s Thought Spot

Today Disney Formally announced that they would be buying Marvel for 4 billion in both cash and stocks, this news has come with both mixed feelings. On one side is the people who thing that Disney will kill Marvel and everything that they have stood for, but on the other side is the people who think that Disney wants Marvel comics to expand into the an area that they have yet to reach, This is of course the other 50% of the market, that being boys.

Now think about this for a second, usually you would associate Disney with princesses, movies, and theme parks in that order. No boy likes princesses, and most boys outgrow Disney movies by the time they are 7, so that only leaves the theme parks, which every kid loves. So thinking like that does make this sale seem reasonable. but there are still people who believe that the beginning of the end of marvel starts with D and ends in Y.

Let me ask you a question. On average how many Mini Coopers have you seen rolling around the roads in your home town. The answer is quiet large. The “mini” has been around since 1959 so it is one of the longest lasting cars in automotive history . But now, The Mini Cooper has received a dramatic face lift, it has given up  its  old hatchback looks for a more sporty appeal.

It takes the form of a coupe concept for BMW (the owners of MINI) to show the world that a hatchback can be a forced to be reckoned with on the streets. And i have to say, it is a great looking car, its such a shame that there is no announcement from MINI if the Coupe concept will be produced, but until then it will be dazzling our hearts at the  upcoming Frankfurt motor show.

Ok, lets face it who doesn’t have or know someone who owns either an iphone or an ipod touch. It’s great features and great design is like a magnet to people. But have you ever wondered if that little device in your pocket can break spontaneously or worse, explode???

well according to apple, there are no documented cases of spontaneously exploding iphones or ipod touches but other people will have you believe otherwise. according to the BBC, there have been 20 cases of this exploding problem in Europe. And being the owner of the ipod touch, i would like to know if this has any truth to it. But lets face it, most people don’t lye about there ipod going up in smoke while they are using it. Plus if you count the 200 million iphone apple has sold alone, this could be a serious problem. But i guess we will truly never know whats going on. Unless all of the iphones in the world start exploding, apple will never be straight with us and never tell us the truth.

Wow, here i am typing my first blog post about my first day of my junior high school year. Which saying this is kinda ironic because being a  junior at Fletcher allows you to do so many things for the first time, the most important being the privilege to go off campus for lunch. However, between this New Year and all of the new privileges, i am really happy of it being the last day that my dad had to stay in the hospital. You see, he had what is easily described as an abnormal heart beat that everyone around him agreed was zapping the energy strait from his body. So, last Friday he was admitted to my local hospital where he stayed over for the weekend for a procedure that would help his heart back into rhythm. And i am glad to say that the procedure was a success and he is on the road to recovery!! Soon, possibly very soon my family will be able to put this 7 month ordeal behind us and allow us to live out normal lives again.
