the kids deserve a treat

Dear Blogary,

I woke up just on time as planned at 9:30 in the morning. I wanted to get a good sleep since it was my rest day and work days usually spoiled my whim to slumber. I ate breakfast with the kids before I started my day’s itinerary: I washed the laundry which had been stacked for 3 days because our all around nanny went home 3 days ago and was not coming back anymore and I swept the floor, dusted appliances and furniture which were left uncleaned 3 days because our all around nanny went home 3 days ago and was not coming back anymore.

While I was doing these, I told the kids to take a shower by themselves, dress up themselves and watch television until I finished the household chores. They were used to doing them with the assistance of a nanny but I did not hear a complain until Jill reported that Jolo insisted on turning on the electric fan which she did not like because she already readied her hair for their school’s occasion. So to solve the conflict, I advised my daughter to get inside our room instead and chat with  aunt Joy as I left my laptop running with facebook and yahoo open. That worked.

The time went fast we had to take our lunch and change clothes for Jill and Jolo’s school’s commencement exercises. How times flew, they were already moving up to the next level. Jill will be in grade one while Jolo will go to preparatory class next school year. I was proud and the kids were happy for their awards. My daughter received helpful, cooperative and industrious ribbons while Jolo got outstanding in art, inquisitive, courteous, sportsmanship,  and cooperative.

I am proud of them!

It was 5 p.m. when the activity ended. I felt like staying at home but realized that it would be best bring them to the mall and treat them to digital theater, the newest technology in Bacolod right now. We ate at Chowking first before proceeding to watch the 3D of How To Train Your Dragon movie.

T’was heartwarming seeing your kids enjoy and really liking what they were doing. All though out the 3D movie, they wowed for the effects of flying dragons – it was a whole new experience for them to be wearing glasses and watching amazing visuals. We then went home with Jill and Jolo talking about what color of a dragon they would like to get for a pet.

Well, it had been a long and worthwhile day for me. And it felt really good!

i get tired sometimes

Dear Blogary,

The things that can get me weary are not the physical activities but the mental and emotional stress. The series of events at work recently had been nerve-racking but as always I managed to handle them with grace. My giving out of invitations to speakers and participants to our environmental projects seemed endless that my officemate-seatmate who was the tenant relations officer whined of loads of memos she had to distribute. A scene like this was normal in our workplace.

When these affairs just halted, I needed to change my rest day so that I can attend Jill and Jolo’s school’s commencement exercise. It meant then, I would be working 7 days already. But that was still okay as we used to do that whenever there were activities that required our presence 24/7. But today, I felt my energy drained.

work is fun especially when you're dealing with people

Then I ascertained that what causes the negative feeling was the thought that I lacked a nanny at home. In between work hours I followed up my father and contacts in the barrio regarding this but unfortunately they found none as of the moment. To my desperation, I even urged our drivers to tapped one for me. But we had no luck.

Another thing that bothered me was my hubby’s schedule of coming home. I knew all along that his contract was ending August 2010 and that he planned to extend until October so that he could spend Christmas with us. Da was not able to spend the holiday with us because he had been working in the ship. However, due to the recent update of our application to Canada, we had to adjust our timetable. We needed to submit our application for permanent resident visa to the Canadian Embassy in Manila before Aug. 19.

And I got worried and upset when Da could not even give me a definite answer when he can come home or how to go about with the transport of the papers. My problems were eating me up – I am so disheartened.

Anyhow, despite all that I would like to cheer myself up with the thought that tomorrow I’m getting a day off and I can sleep until 9 in the morning. I’m bringing my son to the barber shop for a haircut for it would be their recognition day in the afternoon. After that, maybe we can just spend the day at home sleeping, watching tv, eating and so on. But I guess that would be boring for the kids since they do that most of the time. Then maybe we can go out malling and watch the new digital theater technology in town.
