8 Indoor Gardening Tips

Tip 1 – Plants naturally grow towards a source of sunlight. Rotate them every few days to keep them from growing crooked.
Tip 2 – Sunlight exposure is key to growing plants inside. If you can’t afford indoor growing lights then make sure they get enough sunlight during peak hours or buy medium sunlight plants. Plants without sufficient sun exposure become very thin and brittle.
Tip 3 – Watering your plants correctly is the other part of the equation to successfully growing your plants inside. Too much water will drown your plant out but too little will leave it dry and devoid of any method of nutrient transportation. Make sure your plant containers have appropriate drainage.
Tip 4 – Give your plants a light mist shower about once a week to keep grime and dust from settling on the leaves and stems.
Tip 5 – Air is also important for the healthiness of indoor plants. Keep a window open in your growing room for a good portion of the day to keep your plants airy and fresh.
Tip 6 – Keep your house at 65-75 degrees at daytime and about 10 degrees lower at night. This is the ideal growing temperature.
Tip 7 – Keep a record of each of your plant’s name, species, purchase date, fertilizer dates, repotting dates etc just as you would maintain your child’s medical reports. This can work very well for you if you run into problems and need help remedying them.
Tip 8 – Fertilize your plants somewhat regularly. Every time you water your plants, some of the soil’s nutrients get flushed out. You can also try liquid fertilizer and add it in small amounts when you water your plants. You don’t have to fertilize your plants in the winter.
