Starting off, I am a complete non-smoker supporter, I know how bad it is for people and so it makes me sad to see when people do it. On the other hand, I am not the only person who knows the risks and terrible side effects of smoking. In fact, there is not a single person who does not know it is bad for you when they started, which makes it solely their lifestyle choice and responsibility .
On Monday, June 22, 2009, President Barack Obama signed a legislation in which banned the sale of candy and fruit flavored tobacco. I am glad that there is an acknowledgment on the deadly effects of tobacco, and I am glad that they are trying to prevent kids from doing it.
I feel this is actually restricting the rights of legal adult smokers who have made this choice. They may very much enjoy a flavored cigarette, and they have every right to. As we have clearly seen, kids have started smoking from very young ages, probably since man started smoking, but definitely since before there were flavored cigarettes. Another point, I think it is great that Obama is trying to quit, but it did not take a flavored cigarette to get him to light up, and keep at it.

As a comparison of now and back in the 70′s, smoking is not really advertised to kids, it is so much better than it was which is great. I have always known that smoking was bad since I was little, and it makes me feel very uncomfortable knowing that this right was taken away from every adult because of something that is unpreventable. I think that maybe soon enough one of my rights may be taken away that I think I should have. If we see rights being taken away from us right before our eyes, when will it stop..?
