This quote is one I should read every day when I wake up.  I have completely fallen into this overly cautious lifestyle of not offending anybody when it comes to anything.  To a point to where I am letting myself get held back and walked on so that I will never, ever make anybody feel uncomfortable in any way.  Which is funny, because I have always made fun of the exaggerated  political correctness.  Like, one time my sister and I were driving and there was a speed bump in this neighborhood, but the sign said ‘Area Calming Device.’  Seriously?  I definitely have gotten better, but I am ashamed of myself for my lack of voice when it should be there.  I am not saying I want to become some uncontrollable obnoxious and tactless person.  I love being polite and respectful of other people’s feelings.  I have a lot of compassion for other people, but I think I forget that I am a person too.  I should be respected and my voice is just as important.  I know this will be a tough road, but I have to get there for my kids.  I want them to be polite, respectful, AND respected.  I want to be their shining example.  I will get there.
