Why pregnancy could trigger Diabetes?

Diabetes is an  illness  characterized  by  high blood sugar levels or exceed of normal limits. the Cause is lacking of insulin in the blood or because the body does not process insulin efficiently.

“Insulin is a hormone  that function in sugar metabolism. Cell require insulin so that  sugar in the blood can enter the cell and used it as a source of energy. If less insulin happen, sugar can not be absorbed by cells,which cause sugar remain circulating in the blood. As a result, high blood sugar occurred this condition named diabetes type I.

Other conditions, is sufficient amount of insulin that is not balanced with a proper cell processing to absorbed it

this condition name  insulin resistance or type II diabetes.

“There is another type, namely, pregnancy diabetes or gestational diabetes who is experienced 5% of pregnant women. This type of diabetes is difficult to detect, so it is important to know the risk factors, “said dr. Sofani.

the question now is Why Pregnancy trigger DIABETES? Often, new diabetes occurs when someone pregnant.Why this occur?
well this is the explanations

* When woman get pregnant endocrine metabolism and carbohydrate changes this naturally happen to prepare
fetal nutrition and lactation. Therefore,mother body needs extra insulin.

* When pregnancy occurs  food absorption happen slowly, as a result the blood sugar level increases
consequently

* At the end of pregnancy, insulin requirements increased 3 times then normal, this condition  called “diabetogenik pressure” in the pregnancy world.thus, Pregnant women who are not able to increase insulin production will be affected pregnancy diabetes.

there are Many factors influence the emergence of diabetes during pregnancy, such as:

* Pregnant over 30 years.
* Fat.
* There is a history of diabetes in the family.
* Having diabetes in previous pregnancies.
* Having a history of recurrent miscarriage.
* Having a history of insulin resistance prior during pregnancy that result difficulties to have a pregnant
* Ever had a baby more than 4 kg weight.
* Ever had pre-eclampsia, complications of pregnancy marked by high blood pressure, leg swelling and the presence of protein in the urine.
* Having  had a baby with birth defects or death that is unexplainable

DIABETES treatment during pregnancy is integrated action between the obstetrician, internist, a nutritionist, and pediatrician. the target is, achieving blood sugar in there normal levels<105 mg / dl (night hours without meals) and <120 mg / dl (2 hours after meals). So, if you feel there is a risk factor in your pregnancy, check with your doctor immediately for early treatment
