Marion Jones Joins the WNBA
Does everybody remember Marion Jones? She is the former Olympic sprinter that won 5 medals in the 2000 Olympics. She had her medals taken away for the use of steroids. Jones also did 6 months in a Texas prison for lying to federal prosecutors about her drug use and her role in a check-fraud scam.
Jones has now shocked everyone again. The 34 year old has signed with the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock.
Before becoming the star of the 2000 Syndey Olympics and the world’s fastest women, Jones was the starting point guard on North Carolina’s national championship team in 1994 and was drafted by the WNBA in 2003, but never played.
In a conference Jones addressed the media and said, she not looking for redemption. “The word redemption is not in my vocabulary. I’m a competitor, I want to play against the best in the world, and I know that I will be doing that.”
