Nashville Flood

Nashville received a quarter of its annual rainfall in just 26 hours. The river that is normally around 30’ in the spring and is around 40’ when it floods severely rose to whopping 52’. Downtown was severely flooded, the Symphony hall, the Arena and many other landmarks all under water. At least 5 blocks downtown were almost completely submerged. Downtown was the only part of the town that was really affected. Some of the other parts of Nashville were much luckier and only had “minor flooding” where there was only a couple feet of standing water.

This flood poses problems for businesses who managed to survive the recession. Most of them are looking forward to the coming tourist season to help restore their financial stability. With the flood customers have been deterred and wares have been destroyed. Nashville is in desperate need of volunteers. If you would like to help then please help via Red Cross or www.cfmt.org/floodrelief or HandsOnNashville.com. For those of us unable to travel and donate our time we can donate 10 dollars by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to disaster relief.

Reviewing the iPad

Apple Inc. made a huge buzz all over the world by launching their latest product, the iPad. A lot of people were not surprised about the success of this gadget because of its outstanding features.

Appearance:

ipad

To start off, the iPad has a very elegant and powerful look. The nearly 10 inch (diagonal) screen is perfect for viewing your photos, videos, and other files. Surprisingly, it’s easy to carry it anywhere since it’s very thin and light.

Capacity:

The iPad comes in various capacities (16GB, 24GB, and 64GB) that enable you to store more files and support more applications.

Software:

You can enjoy hundreds of applications with the iPad. Aside from enjoying a fast wireless access to the Internet, you can do countless other things like organizing your contact lists, playing your music, viewing your videos and photographs, reading ebooks, playing games and a whole lot more with just one tap of a finger.

The main drawback is that the iPad was not programmed to perform different tasks at the same time.

Hardware:

As seen above, the appearance of the iPad shouts sophistication. Apple placed ports on the side for a microphone, keyboard, headset, and other connecting cables so as not to interrupt the beauty of the screen and back. It has a built-in speaker at the bottom that’s loud enough for your own listening pleasure.

The multi-touch function in the iPad is similar to the iPhone. But this was carefully re-engineered for better sensitivity, precision, and responsiveness.

User Interface:

This gadget is very user-friendly. Since it resembles the iPod touch and iPhone, people who are already familiar with these devices will find the iPad easier to operate.

Summary:

Over all, I say the iPad has been very successful in terms of providing its users an amazing way to enjoy media files. Apple once again has set the bar higher for its competition. I say spending $499 is well worth it.

How do I pick the right college for me

Picking a college is about more than just where you can find friends, and what sort of beach is close to it. When picking the college that is best suited to your specific career needs you need to look past the aesthetics and campus life. What is most important is which school has programs that are right for you. Below are some examples of potential careers and the schools located in Tennessee that match up to those careers.

  • Agricultural business is a growing field, please pardon the unintentional pun. There is a great demand for people to go into this field. Walters State Community College and University of Tennessee are both known for their excellent agricultural programs. Anybody remotely interested in a degree in agricultural business should review the programs offered by both of these colleges.
  • Criminal Justice is another popular degree since it will always be in demand. There are over 60 colleges in Tennessee that offer a good Criminal Justice program, but there are a couple in particular that stand out. The Daymar Institute is quickly becoming known for its criminal justice program.

College Humor

On the first day of college, the dean addressed the students, pointing out some of the rules: “The female dormitory will be out-of-bounds for all male students, and the male dormitory will be off limits to the female students. Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time. Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time will cost you $180. Are there any questions?”

One student raised his hand and asked, “How much for a season pass?”
