Agri Zap RZUIR1 Rat Zapper Ultra Review

I believe the rat zapper is a good product, but I haven’t really gotten many rats (my issue is due to bird feeders). I recommended to the manufacturer to make the zapper open ended (both ends) so the rats would be more willing to go into it, and then quickly and humanely killed.

Agri Zap RZUIR1 Rat Zapper Ultra Feature

  • Bait with ordinary pet food
  • No blood, no gore, no mess, and no poisons to endanger your pets or the environment
  • Flashing kill light tells you when you have a catch; simply tip the Rat Zapper and let the dead rodent slide into the trash can
  • Approximately 30 kills with one set of 4 alkaline “D” Cell batteries (not included)

Agri Zap RZUIR1 Rat Zapper Ultra Overview

The new, larger Rat Zapper Ultra offers you more kills and longer stand-by times. Perfect for larger rats (and mice too!), ongoing rodent infestations and commercial applications. Larger chamber than the Rat Zapper Classic. Bait with ordinary pet food. Mice and rats enter the chamber and are dispatched with a quick but powerful jolt of electricity. If they’ll fit in the chamber, Rat Zapper will dispatch them! No blood, no gore, no mess, and no poisons to endanger your pets or the environment. Flashing kill light tells you when you have a catch; simply tip the Rat Zapper and let the dead rodent slide into the trash can. Dimensions: approximately 4″ x 4-3/4″ X 11-1/2″. Approximately 30 kills with one set of 4 alkaline “D” Cell batteries. Easy to use, and reusable. Not an ultrasonic device. Optional remote monitoring with the Rat Zapper Rat Tale. Can be combined with other units as part of the Rat Zapper Battle Station.

Works, but not of electronics not of durable quality – PeterA –
When it is new and has fresh batteries it works. Was now – no reason for that price hike. It stopped working after 3 weeks.
I took it apart, and the electronic ‘guts’ is about the size of a
cigarette packet. Made in a Chinese sweat shop, hand soldered SMT parts, heaps of dodgey looking dry and dull /cold joints on a dirty, flux spattered, unsealed circuit board, and the PIR sensor had a smear on it. IC chip markings sanded off – the only thing done competently. Cleaned /re-soldered things, added sealer where needed, up and it worked again – better than new. There are vents under the circuit board, so if you live in a seaside, probably will let salt gum up the works and attack things. While electronic payload quality is low, this explains the hot and cold reviews. If it fails – send it back – they must know they have some bad batches out there.

Didn’t seem to work for me.. – Cecil E. Chapman – San Jose, CA
It served as nothing more than a feeding location for the rats I was trying to get rid of in my backyard. Now, maybe I have a 007 Secret Agent Rat, but I put the food in the back of the unit (as indicated in the instructions) and all that happened is that the rats came in for a great dinner and finished all of the food. YES I turned it on … So, maybe I have a clunker or just maybe this device can be outsmarted by especially smart rats, but in any case it did not work AT ALL for me. I’m trying it now in an area of the house where there are mice to see if it will work on them – so far no luck. Very disappointed with this thing – I think I’ll call the manufacturer for ideas.

Fire Danger – Michael S. Lareaux – Greenfield, New Hampshire, USA
Our Rat Zapper Ultra worked well for a while, but after a few months it stopped killing the mice. I tried cleaning it. After I cleaned it, the thing discharged every time I turned it on. I took out the batteries, cleaned it again, and left it alone for a couple of days, thinking that there was moisture under the plate that was causing the trap to discharge. Finally, I put the batteries back in and turned it on. The green light flashed as it was supposed to, and the trap did not discharge. I put some bait in the trap and armed it. That night, we were awakened by our smoke alarms. The house was full of thick smoke, and the kitchen cabinets were on fire. I was able to put out the fire with the sink sprayer. The fire started at the Rat Zapper and traveled up the counter. This ignited the paper on the sheet rock behind the stove, which then traveled up into the kitchen cabinets. The trap itself is melted down to its base and fused to the side of the stove.

I used to recommend the product to people, but I won’t be doing that again.

If you are going to use a Rat Zapper, be careful that you place it in an area that has nothing combustible around it. Put it on a concrete or metal surface and make sure that if it gets hot, there’s nothing nearby that can ignite.

And Always, Always Always maintain smoke alarms in your home! Smoke alarms saved our home and our lives!

I am a Fool – Thomas A. Stuart –
I am a fool, I have a mouse in my home. I got this zapper thing and put the batteries in and some peanut butter. The green light flashed on.
I sat in the dark for four hours. I had to refill the peanut butter three times because the mouse came in and ate it all.
That is when I read the side of the trap, RATS!

If you have mice I guess it does not work-
