Synopysis: Based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 play, which consists of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color. It deals with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion. It later morphed into an Emmy Award-nominated television special and is still being performed around the world.
Review: Tyler Perry’s best film to date I loved it. It was so real. I am a colored girl so I could relate so completely. However I do not believe just colored women would relate to this movie. Kimberly Elise and Thandie Newton’s characters were amazing. It was heart felt and gut wrenching. It tore at my heart like no other movie has. It is one of the best movies I have seen in my life. The cast was outstanding. Tyler could have not have casted it better. It is amazing. I personally used to be so ashamed of being colored. Now I accept it because now I know where my strength comes from.
