‘Paid-for’ London Times the future of online newspapers?
May 26th, 2010 . by additurboknittingneedlesLondon, England set up (CNN) – Rupert Murdoch’s venerable Times and Sunday Times newspapers, its new look website Wednesday, when they start charging users for their content – a move that could determine the future course of the ailing newspaper industry to prepare itself. The new sites – and thetimes.co.uk sundaytimes.co.uk replace – the existing Times online service that includes content from print titles for free.
According to News International, the two British newspapers, the websites home pages of the owners will be freely available. But beyond this requires an online subscription of £ 1 ($ 1.43) per day or £ 2 ($ 2.87) per week for access to both sides. This “paywall will begin in June, it said.
