MGMT Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Vanwyngarden

MGMT Ben Goldwasser and Andrew Vanwyngarden

So I’m here at work listening to Pandora radio, which I also love and on comes this weird but amazing sound…and it was over the love and addiction for this band!  Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser met while attending Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.  Ben remembers that they weren’t trying to start a band they were just comparing music that they liked and things just happened!  Despite their opposing views on methodology (one is spontaneously practical, the other is practically spontaneous) — they shared a common love of mystic paganism (ironic indeed on a campus named for the founder of Methodism), psychotropic sounds, and the belief that a joke (or a joke song) could be sad, profound, and funny at the same time.
The pair was drawn to the music of other duos and found themselves incorporating the implications of the hallucinatory power-twee of the Incredible String Band, the roaring subway minimalist electronica of Suicide, the silky pop-soul of Hall & Oates, the pulsing narcotic trance of Spacemen 3, the avant-garde industrial romanticism of Royal Trux and much more into the constantly evolving sounds of MGMT.

At one time the band was called “The Management” and then shortened to MGMT (it is said by pronouncing each
letter)

They have had several hits one you may recognize is a song called “Time to pretend”  Check it out here!
The one I can’t get out of my head this second is Electric Feel! I am loving this band…both Andrew and Ben are hot as well as talented!  Keep it coming guys…we just can’t get enough!

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods

Last night I was doing a little work from home with the news on for background noise and overheard the news caster say “some companies are trying decide if they are able to use his face for ads any longer”  When I heard this, I immediately looked up and thought to myself…why the hell not?  I don’t agree with cheating on your spouse AT ALL it is definitely wrong, however our president was able to get away with it and many other public figures and in most cases it helped their career rather than hurt it!

Not that this is an excuse by any means, but it has been reported that he was a sex addict, I guess if no one allows him to continue to promote their product he can just go on Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew with the rest of washed up Hollywood!  That ought to boost your career…Just kidding Tiger!  It was also reported that his affairs were known amongst his fellow golfers, the first to come clean was Helen Alfredsson who is also Swedish like his wife Elin Nordegren.  Alfredsson was quoted in saying”In the quietest water swims the ugliest fish”!

What do you think about this?  Should he be dropped from his sponsors?  Let me know what you think…

The suspected attacker was overpowered while trying to light an explosive device on board a flight from the Netherlands as it was making its approach to land.

Airline officials described the explosives as resembling firecrackers. The Northwest Airlines flight, operated by Delta, was flying from Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. It made a safe landing and all 278 passengers were vacated to safety.

The alleged assailant was taken into custody by US authorities, who said he had confessed to attempting to carry out a terrorist attack on behalf of al-Qaeda. One senior US official described the suspect as a 23-year-old Nigerian.

Obama orders tighter security

He has allegedly told investigators that he acquired the explosive in Yemen, along with instructions on how to use them.

Dutch officials said the man was not a resident or a national of the Netherlands, and boarded Northwest Airlines Flight 253 after arriving on a connecting flight.

The White House said President Barack Obama, who is currently on holidays, convened a conference call with his national security team and ordered tighter security for air travel.

Passengers described hearing a popping noise and then seeing a small fire erupt. Yelling and screaming ensued and some witnesses said they saw the suspect sustain burn injuries.

Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy

As you all know by now, the famous actress Brittney Murphy died December 20th of a heart attack, the press said this was the cause of death anyway.  This of course is not the case, which didn’t surprise me at all, because anything that happens like this in Hollywood is always a bogus story at first…and then the truth comes out.  Brittany Murphy did not die of natural causes she died of a possible overdose of prescription medications, which did not surprise me at all.  IN fact when I first heard the news of this story my immediate reaction was, “it was drugs she was 32 and you want me to believe she died of a heart attack”? My best friend who was, and still is a complete die hard fan of Murphy’s refused to believe that I was right and this morning I read the news and BAM, my suspicion was correct.

It was reported the Murphy was on several medications and of course I have the list for you…

  1. Topomax: Anti-seizure and also prevents migraines
  2. Methylprednisolone:  Anti-Inflammatory
  3. Fluoxetine:  Treats depression
  4. Klonopin:  Anti-Anxiety
  5. Ativan:  Anti-Anxiety
  6. Carbamazepine:  Treats diabetic symptoms and is also a Bi-polar medication
  7. Vicoprofen:  Pain killer
  8. Hydrocodone:  Pain killer
  9. Propranolol:  Hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks (also one of the medications that Michael Jackson was taking when he died)
  10. Biaxin:  Antibiotic

Nothing has been confirmed yet, however the toxicology report will be available in five to six weeks.  Again my guess is a drug overdose and this list of medications only further proves that my thinking is on the right track.  I will keep you updated on this story as things progress so check back soon!

Okay, so I know most people aren’t kitty people and neither was I until I met my cat Fathead! (called Fatty for short)  She is the most amazing kitty I have ever had, she doesn’t ignore me, when I come home from work at night she meows like crazy until I pick her up and give her some of my attention.  She is always aware of where I am and follows me around the house like my shadow.  I wanted to share the photos I have of her with all of you because cats are great companions!  The best part about them is that there is no bathing involved when caring for them or taking them on walks to let them use the bathroom…So here she is!

As I wrote yesterday I’m pretty much obsessed with skincare so why I choose to tan indoors during the winter makes absolutely NO sense at all.  I was thinking about the irony of trying to keep my skin looking while tanning indoors…to me both are completely necessary as it is to most Floridian women!  How do I balance this I ask myself?  There is no healthy way to tan at all, unless of course you use those ridiculous spray tans that NEVER look the same as a real tan!  Although I know I am going to pay for this later my thinking is this…Tan just a few times a week and you will be okay, but of course I know different.  I will give you a few facts on indoor tanning instead of just ranting about how much I love it and try and justify it to myself daily…LOL!

Facts:

Who Tans Indoors?

  • On an average day in the United States, more than 1 million people tan in tanning salons.
  • Nearly 70 percent of tanning salon patrons are Caucasian girls and women, primarily aged 16 to 29 years.
  • Nearly 28 million people tan indoors in the United States annually. Of these, 2.3 million are teens.
  • The indoor tanning industry has an estimated revenue of $5 billion, a fivefold increase from 1992.

Risks of Indoor Tanning

  • The United States Department of Health and Human Services and the International Agency of Research on Cancer panel has declared ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and artificial sources, such as tanning beds and sun lamps, as a known carcinogens (cancer-causing substances).
  • Indoor tanning equipment, which includes all artificial light sources, including beds, lamps, bulbs, booths, etc., emits UVA and UVB radiation. The amount of the radiation produced during indoor tanning is similar to the sun, and in some cases might be stronger.
  • A Swedish study presents strong evidence that exposure to UV radiation during indoor tanning increases the risk of melanoma, especially when a user is exposed at an early age.
  • Evidence from several studies has shown that exposure to UV radiation from indoor tanning devices is associated with an increased risk of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, such as squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma.
  • A review of seven studies found a 75 percent increase in the risk of melanoma in those who had been exposed to UV radiation from indoor tanning before the age of 35.
  • Studies have demonstrated that exposure to UV radiation during indoor tanning damages the DNA in the skin cells. Excessive exposure to UV radiation during indoor tanning can lead to premature skin aging, immune suppression, and eye damage, including cataracts and ocular melanoma.
  • Indoor tanning beds/lamps should be avoided and should not be used to obtain vitamin D because UV radiation from indoor tanning is a risk factor for skin cancer. Vitamin D can be obtained by a eating a healthy diet and by taking oral supplements.
  • In a recent survey of adolescent tanning bed users, it was found that about 58 percent had burns due to frequent exposure to indoor tanning beds/lamps.
  • The FDA estimates that there are about 3,000 hospital emergency room cases a year due to indoor tanning bed and lamp exposure.

Everyone who knows me knows I am a freak when it comes to caring for your skin and I’m constantly coming up with things to use from home to exfoliate and cleanse your skin.  As my age catches up with me faster and faster, it leaves me searching for new products to help make my skin look like it is 19 again, and this year I think I have found what I have been searching for!  The products name is Genifique by Lancome and I have been using it for a few weeks now and have fallen head over heels in love with it!  I have run into friends I haven’t seen in a while and they say things like you look younger than the last time I saw you…which in my mind is the greatest compliment I could ever receive!  This product is in fact the fountain of youth!  Although it is a bit pricey it is in fact worth every penny, and has 10 years research and 7 different world patents backing this product.  I have been waiting on something like this for years!  While working in a plastic surgeon’s office years ago I got complimentary microdermabrasion treatments that were and still are a great thing as far as facial scarring goes, but this is truly our new fountain of youth!  Go check it out!

So today I had to call my new job and request that I work from home because I woke up this morning and felt like a train hit me.  I also look this way.  I don’t know what was worse the embarrassment of actually getting sick and having to miss a day from work or looking this way.  I am one of those people that never get sick, I think the last time I did was like 5 years ago…what happened?  My old age or was it just my turn to get something?  I will update you all on what I may have after my Dr. appointment in the morning, until then just keep checking out my page!  See you next time!

I am 25 and have had several roommate run ins whether they were good or bad, most have actually been pretty bad.  I am now living with 2 friends who happen to be brothers and when I first moved in everything was great but we are at the “weird” phase now.  You know where things feel awkward, or you walk into room and it suddenly gets quiet?  Yeah, that’s the weird phase!  I think I need to find new roommates at this point but my set up is so sweet I am not sure there are too many places that will rent to me for free!  The only rent I have is giving them rides everywhere they need to go but it’s getting a bit annoying because when I am unable or too intoxicated to drive they get a little disgruntled about it.  One in particular is always asking me to drive my car and although he is a good driver I just don’t feel comfortable with others driving my car while I am not around, I mean anything could happen.  The people in this town aren’t the best of drivers, as soon as it sprinkles I am usually stuck behind the drivers with the hazards on…really???  I have had worse roommates in the past though, I had this one girl from work living with me and she would stay up and party every night of the week with no consideration of me in the other room.  I was so glad when I got rid of her!  Another time I had a friend who thought it would be appropiate to walk around basically naked in front of my boyfriend while I wasn’t there.  Don’t get me wrong I have played the part of annoying roomie before…but never like this!  Have you ever had one of these situations???
