How To Combat Bad Breath!

Halitosis, in layman’s terms, is just plain old bad breath. Bad breath is an uncomfortable and embarrassing thing to have. Sure, everyone gets it if they eat foods heavy in garlic and onions. It is also caused by things like dry mouth, periodontal disease and smoking. It can also be caused by the bacteria feasting on the food particles left in your mouth after eating. This can be combated by brushing after each meal and flossing. Also while brushing, be sure to pay attention to your tongue. A lot of people don’t know this, but brushing your tongue is to your benefit. You can actually buy toothbrushes with a tongue brush included. Food can hang onto the tongue, giving the bacteria in your mouth more to feed on. If you are busy and do not have time to brush, another alternative is chewing gum or sucking on sugar free candy.

Another way to beat bad breath is drink plenty of water. Eating certain fruits and vegetables such as apples, celery, and carrots can also help with getting rid of bad breath. If you are a smoker you could possibly suffer from a Vitamin C deficiency. It is suggested smokers take a Vitamin C supplement to combat this problem.

You can always use things like breath mints and sprays to help. But sometimes the problem could be bigger. If your breath is chronically bad then you should seek out your dentist, as there may be other underlining problems causing the bad breath.
