What are receding gums and how do you prevent them?

A common problem found by dentist in their patients is receding gum lines. You think receding hair line no big deal, so you probably thinking the same about receding gum lines. Well your thought process is wrong. Receding gum starts when the gums start to pull away from the teeth. It is a known fact hair line recede as you grow older. Well your gum lines recede to as you get older. But there is more to receding gum lines than just age. Some causes of receding gum lines are as followed:

  • Brushing to hard or to much.
  • Teeth grinding
  • Gum Disease
  • Not brushing or flossing properly.

As there is no cure for receding gums. There are steps you can take to treat receding gum lines. Your dentist will probably suggest the following:

  • Brush and floss properly.
  • Teeth grinders consider getting a night guard.
  • Reducing plaque build up
  • Visit your dentist twice a year for a check up.

You should be aware that once your gums lines start receding there is only treatment. The gums do not grow back. So it is important to have this monitored closely by your dentist. He will advise you as to how precede to keep the gums from receding any further. If they recede to far exposing root you may lose the tooth.
