Maybe you have a smaller vehicle, and not so much cargo space. But you are an avid outdoors person who enjoys, biking, skiing and maybe kayaking. So what to do? A great option is installing a car rack on your vehicle. These racks carry extra luggage, skis and bikes. It is a great space saver.

First thing to consider is the type of rack. There are many types and brands. Are you carrying just bikes or maybe skis too? Or maybe you want one that can carry various things depending on what you are doing. Do you go with a factory rack or buy one out of a store? Factory racks are the simplest. You can go to your car dealer and they can find the exact one for your make and model. It pretty much makes the installation cake. Or if you decide to go to a store it may be cheaper, but you will have to figure out most of the installation yourself.

Choosing a rack is the next biggest issue. There are four types of racks. I am going to go through each one.

  • Roof Racks: These racks can carry the biggest variety of equipment. They can hold luggage, bikes, skis or other things.
  • Strap Rack: This rack attaches to your car and is removable. You only use it when you need it. The downside to strap racks is they can only carry bikes and are limited to only 3 at a time.
  • Hitch Rack: This is an easy rack. If you have a hitch, just attach it. You can get different racks for different size hitches so you can pretty much carry whatever you want.
  • Truck Rack: Don’t worry, truck drivers, we did not forget about you! Trucks racks are put into place on the tailgate or side rail. They are mainly used for bikes.

This is just some interesting information about car racks if you are in the market for a car rack. Above you will also find a video telling more tips about installing car racks.

Thinking About a Jacuzzi or Hot Tub?

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Planning on buying an outdoor hot tub or jacuzzi? It’s not as simple as just setting it up. There are things you need to know when considering installation. For example, you must determine the size of the hot tub or jacuzzi: do you want a small one that may hold four, or a bigger one that could hold four or more?

There aren’t a lot of steps to installing a hot tub or jacuzzi but there are things to think about. The first thing is location, location, location. You need to find a strong area if it will be in your patio/deck area. The area needs to be able to support the jacuzzi or hot tub filled with water. It needs to be close to your main water supply. You also need to look up and make sure it not sitting directly under power line. You want to cook BBQ, not yourself.

If you have a deck consider installing under the overhang. It will keep your hot tub from being exposed to the elements. You may decide on outdoor lighting or speakers to listen to the music while you lounge. These are just extra perks worth considering when installing your hot tub or jacuzzi.
