B&W

I took this shot during a local workshop. My friend (picture above) was the one of the model that day. This was during the break. She was like “take my picture, take my picture”. hehehe.. I had a little hard time shooting because the room was dark and back lighted(light coming from behind the subject),most of the light was coming from the window behind and I have to be very stead for I did not bring my tripod and I was shooting at a slow shutter. I set my camera to aperture mode because I need to be quick, center-weighted metering so the camera would meter more on the subject and so I will not get a silhouette(I don’t care blowing out a little of the background), no flash(normally with back lighting flash is used unless you want a silhouette in this case there was enough light to lit the subject).. all natural light.. see exif data below

shutter speed: 1/20″
aperture: f/1.8
ISO: 800

for the post-processing work I just changed the image to black and white, to be honest the white balance of this image was driving me crazy.. hahaha! I did not attempt to clean up the noise by using a high ISO because I want that antique/retro feel to the image.

Camera: Nikon D80
Exposure: 0.025 sec (1/40)
Aperture: f/1.8
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: -2/3 EV

This is one of my early works and also one of my favorite shots, this was shot almost noon around 10-11am but the location of the shoot was an abandoned hotel and it was dark. So I set-up my flash to a shoot through umbrella then set it to CLS mode,TTL (it’s a Nikon thing) then I place my camera on a tripod. I set the shutter to 1/40″ so I could include a little of the ambient that was hitting the background, then at iso 100, I used an aperture of f/1.8 to maximize the light coming from the flash. The dress was black from the waist down it’s almost invisible.

for the post processing work , I ran this in Noise ninja twice(plug-in version for Adobe Photoshop CS3)
