Is it just a matter of time until, in the interest of homeland security, the United States pays internet providers and phone companies for required tracking of facebook, Twitter, email and other social media, used by its citizens- the same citizens, which, of course, will be paying to have themselves tracked? (I should say, paid for by the citizens who actually contribute to the federal income tax revenue pot, which, in itself, is a declining number).
Next, the government can borrow more digitally created funds, in order to pay news gathering organizations, as well as cable and satellite operators, for the collection of data showing what citizens are reading and viewing.
Restaurants and hotels can be paid, letting the government know who’s dining/sleeping with whom.
Bookstores, resorts,…banks. Yes, surely banks can provide information to protect the government of the United States from its citizens. Wait, wouldn’t that be protecting us from ourselves? Well, that’s what government is for, right?
Then, every American household will be paid, in order to have round-the-clock surveillance equipment installed throughout their home and around the surrounding property. Schools and houses of worship must be paid, too.
Trains, planes and automobiles will all be equipped with monitoring devices, paid for by the US Government.
Think of all the entry level jobs this will create.
