First of all I am really happy with the warranty terms, and SquareTrade’s website and paperless products are very easy to use. I have not made a claim yet but I suspect it will be easy to do. The question is how well they actually perform once the claim is made.

One thing I wanted to share as had I thought about it I would have changed some of my purchase decision. If you cheap out like I did (after a 2k+ TV I didn’t want to spend anymore) and get super-saver shipping your item won’t arrive for at least 2 weeks. The warranty starts from the date of purchase, not the data of arrival. This is really more of a critique of how this type of warranty works not against SquareTrade, but I felt it deserved to be noted (after 2k+ what is an extra 60-75 to get it here in a day or two).

I bought a refurbished Optoma hd72 digital projector over a year ago for [...] bucks. Bought the square trade warranty for one year and got the second year half price. I ordered a nice Panasonic 58″ plasma TV on June 18, 2010. Purchased this warranty (fair price) for some additional protection on the purchase at the same time. The TV was delivered to me on June 30 (READ THAT REVIEW) and I was surprised to realize that my purchased coverage started on the day I ordered the TV rather than when it actually went into service in my home.

I had been told by a lot of people that you don’t need to buy extended warranties on modern electronics. If there is something wrong, it will fail within the first few months. Well, we just had to replace a vizio plasma that we bought at Costco. Turns out it had a panel defect and was unrepairable. Costco extends the manufactures warranty to two years, but this one failed after 27 months. Lucky for us we had a third year of warranty from American Express! It took about a month and a half with no TV, but they finally came through and refunded our entire purchase price!

We bought a new Samsung plasma through Amazon, and the Square Trade warranty was a great deal. I read the other reviews, and people seem very pleased with their customer service. Everything is done online, so it’s easy. Terms a re much better than a retailer warranty. I looked at the same set at Sears, and their warranty was four times the cost, and not as good.

Like any warranty, I can’t really judge how good it is until I need to use it, but it’s reassuring to know I have one.

First experience with Square Trade. It was an inexpensive warranty I tacked on to a refurbished Philips LCD TV that I purchased on [...]. Used the TV about 4 times before it just quit working. Philips jacked me around for a replacement for about a month and then sent me a piece of USED garbage. I told them to keep it and started a claim with Square Trade. Within a week, I had my purchase price money back from Square Trade. I was very happy with the warranty as well as the service. I’ve since bought several other warranties from Square Trade as well. Philips will NEVER get any more business from me, ever.

I got the Cheetah Mount APDAM3B and it works great (and it showed up on my doorstep in about 3 days). I got it to mount my 46″ LCD Samsung above my fireplace. It was pretty easy to center because it had multiple holes for wherever you found studs, then you could slide the tv left and right until it was center and tighten the screws. The only problem I had was; when I was tightening the last screw I did a little too much and the head broke off, so I had to take out all the screws and move them up an inch (luckily it came with an extra screw). I recommend 1) drilling small pilot hole, 2) screwing straight in (not at a downward angle like I do for everything else) and 3) as soon as it touches the metal mount STOP. I was able to hang it by myself, but it weights like 20 – 30 pounds so if help is available use it.

This mount is a wonderful value. It came with a full supply of bolts of various types to fit any mounting situation. And it was very easy and straight forward. This was my first mounting experience, so this may be common, but how it worked was that I put the mount on the wall, then put two large hooks on my TV, then simply ‘hooked’ the tv to the mount- which was already very secure at this point, and then simply locked the tv into place for added security. It worked perfectly with my 46″ Sony.

This is a very solid mount and installation was made easy with all of the hardware options and built in level. I used this to mount a 32″ LCD and it supports the weight no problem. The only issue I have is that the mount seems large for a 32″ TV. The edges of the mount as well as the top and bottom of the brackets are barely covered by the TV, making the mount more visible than I would have preferred. Overall, a very solid, well constructed mount.

Not going to repeat what has already been said, however I will make a few points.

1 – Use at least a 2 foot level (all I have are 4 foot). The built-in level is convenient, however it was off by well over an inch. I never unwrapped the provided torpedo level that was also included. I would do that regardless of the brand.

2 – Get assistance unless you want to do what I done – disassemble the arms to mount it.

I’m sure I am forgetting 1 other, but it escapes me.

Other than the 2 tips, if you’re looking for a solid articulating mount – don’t hesitate. My 58C550 plasma is neatly hanging (corner mounted) above the new Sanus wall mount component rack Sanus Systems VF5022-B1 Dual Column Wall-Mounted Furniture Component with 2 Shelves

Very few complaints about this tv. Had it for about a month now and I love it. One thing I thought might be a little better is the THX mode, it only makes the picture look dark and blurry. It’s only to be used with movies. Not really for video games or anything else. The energy saving mode only works with a few settings, I mostly leave it on 75% or 100 because otherwise it looks like the center is brighter than the edges such as when white text is on a black screen. The outter text is dimmer while the center is bright.

The 240Hz motion blur is excellent, just adjust the settings to make it maximum instead of minimum. The sound is great, compared to my dad’s 55inch Samsung, this has alot more depth, surround and bass. I was expecting to be blown away by the 2M:1 contrast ratio. But again compared to my dads 100,000:1 Samsung, there isnt THAT much of a difference. A little yes.

The remote isn’t very ideal, it gets fingerprinted and greasy VERY easily and is pretty much impossible to get off. The moment I looked at it brand new I thought ‘wow, pretty remote’. 2mins later I was saying ‘wow, ugly remote’. I love the LED lighting, the view is great from any angle in my house. Theres not too much of a glare from sunlight, only a hot spot but the screen doesnt reflect everything like some other LCDs or LEDs. On my dads samsung I can see everything being reflected and its really annoying. I love the look of the tv, so cant complain there. I was a little dissapointed when I saw there was no internet mode build into the TV as with samsung. I tried to connect an ethernet cord and found none. I just use my PS3 to browse the web. Thought it could have included it though. The HDMI voice problem doesnt exist on my television.

Not a perfect tv, but a very good one and will impress your family and friends. I hope this lasts me for many years to come.

Only problem/complaint so far: This TV does NOT have a matte screen. I’m not sure what’s going on, if they changed it at one point or another, but I feel misled.

I bought my one year warranty through SquareTrade for a 26″ Westinghouse LCD. I wanted something beyond my 90 day warranty. It was well worth the $30. After 9 months I was having trouble turning the TV on. It would no longer power on. I filed a claim online and was sent a prepaid box via UPS within 5 days. I returned the TV and received a status report every other day. On the fifth day I was told they were unable to repair the TV. I purchased a 42″ flat screen tv a few years ago, and was naturally concerned about what to do after the 1 year manufacturer’s warranty had expired. The store offered its own extended warranty program, but I was hesitant about putting down hundreds of dollars for a 3 year extended warranty. Surely there was something more economical with the same, or better service?

I heard, via word of mouth, of a third-party alternative called Squaretrade. Intrigued, I checked reseller ratings, and was very shocked to see a lifetime rating of 9.7. I read many of the reviews, and they all consistently praised ST’s dedication to fulfilling its warranty promises. Of the few that were not pleased with ST service (and some of them were the customer’s fault), I was impressed by the follow-up messages left by ST’s representatives to resolve the situation.

Convinced, I ended up purchasing a 3 year warranty through Squaretrade, for just ~$40. ST runs monthly %-off discounts, so you can always get a very good bargain. To clarify, if I remember correctly, the 3 year warranty is really a 2 year warranty, since the first year overlaps with the first year of the manufacturer’s warranty. However, you should read the fine print to double check.

Talk about knocking on wood. My TV broke recently, and so I submitted my claim form to ST, which primarily comprised faxing a copy of my receipt to them (don’t throw it away!), and describing my problem. I was expecting a reply a few months later, but Squaretrade promises resolution in less than week. I was shocked to find in my email inbox, a message from ST indicating that since it was cost prohibitive to ship my TV back to them for repairs, they would instead be refunding my original purchase price in its entirety, through PayPal. Sure enough, the money was sent the next day.

This is legendary service, the kind consumers dream about. You can buy a ST warranty with complete confidence, and be assured of their guarantees. Regarding TVs, they will not cover certain issues, e.g. burn-in on a plasma, and lamp replacements on DLPs. Again, check the fine print (don’t worry, there’s not too much to read).

I’m going to be buying all my warranties through ST in the future, recommending them to my friends and families, and making sure my children, and my children’s children buy Squaretrade warranties. I wholeheartedly recommend them (and no, I’m not getting paid by ST to write this review).

I’ve owned this television for a little over a year. I could not be more happy with the quality of the picture and sound. About a week ago, it started a very odd flickering (like an old movie projector) which grew progressively worse. I hopped online because usually if a product has a known defect, there are complaints all over the internet. However, it seemed my problem was unusual because I found almost nothing. The television was one month out of warranty, so with little hope I called Samsung customer service. To my surprise, they extended my warranty for three months and scheduled a service call within two days. The repair crew showed up, swapped out some circuit boards, and the television is beautiful once more. Shocked and pleasantly surprised at the level of service.

After 60 days in home viewing I can honestly say that Samsung LN55B650 is an outstanding LCD HDTV. I did compare to this years LN55C650 and really did not notice any difference in picture quality. I did debate over LED backlit, 3D ready & such but always came back to the B650. The red touch of color does standout but it grew on me. Overall, no complains. I am very happy with my purchase.

I painfully reviewed several lcd tv’s (including LED) on price, contrast ratio, inputs, size, and reputation from a few websites and going to stores to see the tv’s in person. Kept finding myself returning to the same 2 brands…samsung and LG. The final choice was made based on my components. I do not own a Blu-ray (yet..hahhaha) or any other high end device that require HDMI. My components are about 5-6 yrs old and work fine, but lack HDMI inputs. All 2010 and late 2009 LCD/LED models have HDMI only, which would mean a component upgrade also. The B650 has the best of all worlds with HDMI and component and composite inputs for all of us who do not yet have the latest and greatest of electronics. DVD’s look awesome by the way…can’t wait to get a blu-ray. I also own a 40-inch samsung lcd with 60hz and 1080p, and with the HD package from my satelite provider there is a distinct difference in clarity b/w them.

Family and friends will be awe-inspired with the picture. The picture is literally out of the box, without adjustments. Currently, I am trying to persuade my dad to buy one in order to replace his 11 yr old box-monster 4:3 tv which is dying a slow death. Extremely pleased with my purchase. I hope to get more than 6 yrs out of this one than my lcd Hitachi.

And 1 more thing…purchased the tv through amazon.com, not another on-line retailer. I was highly skeptical of buying something so large and expensive online. Checkout was extra secure with my credit card and shipping was well coordinated and on-time. Setup was a easy out of the box. I looked into calibration online for this tv just for a little tweaking, but everything was a bit costly.

I purchased this TV for $1,499 from one of the major retail electronics stores about 3 weeks ago and so far I couldn’t be happier. I’m loving this TV. I have other LCD TV’s in the house and the Samsung outshines them all as far as picture quality is concerned. I have it hooked up to my FIOS set top box and Blu-Ray player via HDMI and the picture is stunning! The blacks are deep and the colors are vibrant and accurate. I haven’t even played with the picture controls or calibrated it yet. But so far it looks great right out of the box. One thing worth mentioning is that when you have the 120hz enabled movies tend to look like they were shot with a digital video camera. They lose their film-like look. Sort of the way a soap opera looks. But if you disable this feature then movies will look more film like. Some people like the way movies look with the 120hz enabled. I personally like the look of film so I keep it disabled. I only enable it when I’m watching a fast moving event such as a soccer game etc. Another thing I’d like to point out is that the screen on this TV is shiney. It does not have a matte finish. I personally love the way the glass screen looks. I feel it makes the picture look clearer. I have 3 other LCD TV’s all with matte screens and they don’t look nearly as good. The same goes for my laptops. I have a laptop with a matte display and one with a glass/shiney display and the shiney display looks so much clearer. However, with that said, I can see where some people may not like the glass finish if they have bright windows sitting directly behind the TV. My windows are on the side so I don’t have that problem. Overall I couldn’t be happier and am so glad I decided to go with a Samsung TV. I orignally was going to get a Vizio but after comparing the picture qaulity between the 2 TV’s the Samsung was a no-brainer. I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be happy with this set?

i would definatly recommend this tv to anyone looking for a quality tv at a good price. i purchased this tv about 2 months ago and it has been performing well.

pros-

definatly looks great. lots of inputs…and digital optical audio out for my z-5500 ss system. and price

cons-

sound. the speakers on the tv do not really put out too well. i have had the volume almost maxxed. it was loud but it did not sound clear. if you are going to spend $1200, why not $200 on audio???

all in all..great tv..great price. i am completed satisfied with my purchase!!

In early 2009 I purchased a LN52A550 LCD HDTV from Amazon which was delivered by Pilot trucking, who also set it up. At the time I noticed that some input jacks were not functioning but didn’t complain until I got my wife a Wii and needed tmore jacks. A week later they replaced circuits so the jacks would work. Several weeks later the TV began turning itself on and off, requiring another warranty repair. More recently, on April 8, 2010, it was still turning itself on and off so I again called Samsung to schedule more repairs. At that time I was told both verbally and via several e-mails that the warranty covered it but that the warranty would soon expire on Apr. 30. On Apr. 23, not having heard from the repair people, I again called Samsung. They told me that the warranty had expired on Apr. 1 and that any repairs would be at my expense. When I pointed out that I had several e-mails from them stating that my warranty would not expire until Apr. 30 and that the e-mail’s could be used as evidence in court, they put me on hold until finally agreeing that they would honor the Apr. 30 expiration date. I am very troubled by the fact that they backdated the warranty expiration in hopes that I would pay for the warranty repair. That was clearly illegal. I am also disturbed by the cronic failure of the TV. For tose reasons I will never buy another Samsung product nor recommend threm to anyone.

The picture is amazing when a 1080i or 1080p source is playing. It’s like being in a movie theater. 720p is soft and 480p is softer and you can really see the difference of 1080i/1080p vs 720p and 480p on a screen this big.

Controls on the remote are pretty easy to understand. Color controls are very good. There are 3 settings depending on the ambient light and you can quickly switch from 1 to the other. Screen controls are also easy to understand and easy to switch back and forth from 16:9 to “wide fit/screen fit” depending on the signal.

The two things that I have a slight problem with are the connector tube to the stand and the design of the remote. The tube could be sturdier. The remote handle curves down and out (sort of like the old Star Trek phaser grip) and this causes the remote to drop off the coffee table onto the floor if you don’t take the time to put it EXACTLY entirely on the table. Annoying when you just want to watch the show/movie/game.

The sound coming from the unit is good but I plan on hooking it up to a home theater system.

Overall, I think the Samsung is an excellent unit and purchasing from Amazon Warehouse is a fantastic way to save lots of money!

Ordered from Amazon Feb. 2010 Great price, good picture, good delivery time. After about two weeks of use the picture now blinks off and on after the T.V. has been on for about an hour. Picture is on for about 3 sec. then goes off for a second. The audio never goes away just the picture. It doesn’t matter which input source I use, sat., over air ant., or DVD player. Amazon will take back for full refund or exchange for another model. Problem is this model is no longer available. A similar model will be more expensive. What to do? Called Samsung, awaiting a call from tech support to schedual a time to repair it. Don’t know if i should return it for refund while I still can or get it fixed. Disappointed with Samsung but happy with Amazons customer service.
