Icicles And Their Hidden Dangers

by ken - October 13th, 2009

Icicles are quite possibly one of winters true beauties. I mean, how many times have you woken up to find thousands of them hanging outside. They really are quite cool to look at, just as long as you don’t get to close.
Let me explain, last winter, there were many cases of icicles falling from there perch on a high roof top and landing on someone. Most of the time, few injuries are reported from theses incidents. However, Last year a man was killed in Washington state after a icicle struck him in the head. so make sure to keep a look out for them next time you take a stroll in the snow.
Now icicles haven’t only done damage to people, many icicles are dangerous to anything below them. This includes cars, trees, and other things that might be hanging around on ground level. Also, Icicles have been known to damage houses if they are broken off abruptly.
So, if you wake up on a winter morning and hind icicles all over the place, keep your distance but enjoy one of winter true wonders.

Gain The Advantage In A Snowball Fight

by ken - October 12th, 2009

Ok, you are outside playing in the wonderful snow. You are having a great time and hope you never have to go inside. Then out of nowhere, you are hit by a snowball. Your next thought is, What do i do???
Well lucky for you, making a snowball isn’t really all that hard. The first thing you are going to want to do is to find the perfect snow. This kind of snow is kind of mushy but not to soft to where if falls apart. Then you compact the snow into a familiar ball like shape, if any rough edges occur in this step, just brush them off. Now it is a sphere, you can through your snowball at a target of your choice.
Now, a useful tip is to make many snowballs a head of time. that way, you have maximum ammo to pelt your target. Plus, this is very useful for ambushes as your not scrambling for more snow as your target gets away.
