No, Albie Hecht is not crazy.

Four years ago, he had a dream job.

Albie Hecht: Creating content for the iPhone

As president of Viacom’s Nickelodeon, he launched hit kids shows like Dora The Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants. He went onto start the monolithic media company’s edgier Spike TV channel. According to CNN.com:

Then Hecht stunned colleagues. He quit his job at Viacom (Charts) in 2005 and founded Worldwide Biggies, a seat-of-the-pants operation devoted to creating the next kids entertainment phenomenon – not on television, but the Internet. “I’m throwing away a great career,” Hecht, 54, said half in jest. “A lot of people think I’m totally mad.”

Four years later, he may have proven his critics wrong. With old media struggling to catch up with a rapidly changing video game ‘game’, Albie and co. may be in the exact right place, and time.

Thanks to Hecht, the world is about to meet Bigby, a pirate-fighting, loveable little character. There is a catch: Bigby will premiere not on Nick at Nite or Disney – but on your iPhone.

Produced in partnership with online gaming giant Addicting Games, the Bigby game is based on an 8-year-old crime-fighting genius, who wears a bear suit, fights off pirates and dragons, and only eats chicken parmesan.

Keep an eye out for Bigby, and a new era in content distribution, fueled in part by Albie Hecht and his band of digital media pioneers.
