House music is a style of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago in the early 1980s. It became very popular in the mid 80s. It catered to the Latino and African-American communities of Chicago first, then spread in popularity to Detroit, New York City, New Jersey, and Miami. It reached all the way to Europe before infusing mainstream pop and dance music worldwide since the early to mid 1990s.
House music is strongly influenced by the elements of soul and funk varieties of disco. House usually mimics disco’s percussion, especially the use of a prominent bass drum on every beat, but may feature a significant synthesizer bass line, electronic drums, electronic effects, funk and pop samples, and reverb- or delay-enhanced vocals.
I like house music because I like how the style mixes different kinds of music together. You can go to just about any club and/or bar and hear house music for yourself.
