You’ve seen it around your city or town, either at the back of trucks being carted from one location to another, or lying in some empty lot, gathering dirt and dust yet not at all decaying.
Shipping containers, or at least the giant, intermodal containers, are built from corrugated weathering steel, designed to withstand repeated use and handling. I’m not sure how many shipping containers are used all over the world right now, but I’ll bet it’s over 15 million or so.
On the average, containers measure 8 feet in height and in length, but were later expanded to longer lengths like 20 feet to 40 feet. These can be stacked up to seven units high.
Where originally it was designed for military use, it is now used internationally to ship anything imaginable. Yet ingenious people have found another use for these containers: Make them into homes or buildings.
Yep. These heavy duty, weather resistant containers are fast becoming the choice material for residences. Mind, it’s not just ordinary “plunk ‘em down and bring the furniture” type of home, but ones that are designed by architects and interior designers. Check these ones out.

Such houses are low cost compared to building it from scratch. It’s also fairly low maintenance, yet sturdy and long lasting. These structures are also easily transported, so if you want to move, you just don’t bring your things, you can bring your house too.
I try to talk about specific subjects with a particular theme from Monday to Thursday. Feature Friday is where I talk about things that don’t fit in any of the themes for the previous days.
I prefer to take breaks during the my day and look by means of some blogs to view what other people are talking about. This weblog happened to exhibit up in my searches and I couldn’t aid clicking on it. I’m glad I did simply because it was a extremely pleasant read.
