The excitement of the American Idol Season Finale is quite palpable. While probably not as exciting as the previous seasons, Season 9 still had a lot of interesting moments. Early favorites like Didi Bernami and Andrew Garcia, who wowed the judges with their audition and Hollywood performances (Didi’s cover of Kara DioGuardi’s “Terrified” caught everyone’s attention while Andrew’s take on Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up” made a lasting impression), failed to meet the expectations and didn’t’ make it farther in the Top 10.
The last two standing, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox, are pulling out all the stops to win this competition. I’m a Lee fan, and it’s great to see him improve and gain confidence as the show progressed. Crystal has him beat when it comes to having a hold on their talent, while Lee is still on the starting point of his. While Lee seems to be a clear favorite (at least, in most blogs I’ve read and in most conversations I’ve had), Crystal has a stronger chance of winning given her vocal power and strength. Her performances came off more confident than Lee’s, who seemed to have an attack of nervousness in the midst of one song. However, I’m seeing the possibility of Lee making it big even if he doesn’t get this year’s AI crown. Hasn’t it happened before where the runner-up is more popular than the actual winner? We’ll see.
I’ve been rooting for Crystal Bowersox ever since final 12 performed. I still do! But Lee has shown quite an improvement too. So, it’s going to be an exciting who’s who later. ^__^
I’m no American Idol fan. But I got to see the first few episodes and watched it again when my favorite Alicia Keys became a mentor. Back then, my instincts told me Crystal Bowersox will make it to the last few finalists.
