Works great. Not too noisy. Has rubber feet on the bottom and doesn’t slide anywhere. Grinds very good. Doesn’t overheat. Small amount of static only if you grind coffee continually. Manufacture recommends not to exceed grinding more than 3 times in a row. If you grind only once it doesn’t cause static at all. For a full pot of 8 (6oz) cup, I grind 8 tablespoons of beans and set it at 5 on the timer, and all the beans grind perfect and none are left undone. Be careful, some coffee companies require 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 oz cup of water, then your settings would be different. I suggest you buy a cheap clear measurement cup with markings of tablespoons in it so you don’t have to be counting each tablespoonfull at a time.

For several years now I have suffered with a Cuisinart coffeemaker (an early model similar to the DCC-100) that was difficult to clean, impossible to pour without dripping or spilling from the poorly-designed carafe, occasionally leaked small amounts of hot water from the grounds basket, and occasionally leaked coffee from the top of the carafe during the drip process. To top it off, my wife never really liked the taste of the brew. So recently I entered the market for a new coffeemaker.
My requirements were simple:
(1) I wanted a good tasting brew, which for me means full-bodied but not burnt- or tarry tasting.
(2) No obvious design defects. E.g., I didn’t want any part of the eggshell-fragile carafe reported in the Braun KF187. No carafes with tiny handles, no carafes with bad spouts that cause dripping on the table or countertop.
(3) No unnecessary frills that make the machine needlessly complex and hence introduces more things to break down. E.g., I do not need an integrated coffee grinder. I do not need an espresso option. I do not need an integrated internet connection. 
(4) The color should be black, to fit in with the other stainless steel & black appliances in our kitchen.
The Capresso 449.01 satisfied all my needs and then some. It makes a good pot of coffee. It does not leak or drip. The water temperature is good, and the intensity of the coffee right in the middle of the range that I enjoy drinking it. Brew cycles are fast but not so fast that the basket is prone to overflow if your overgrind your beans (which can sometimes clog metal filters used in high-speed drip machines). All in all, a well thought out basic coffeemaker for a fair price.
Additionally, the 449.01 comes with a few extras that are nice to have (and are not the sorts of things that make it harder to use or more susceptible to breakdown). For instance, a carbon filter built into the water reservoir. A reusable gold-tone grounds filter. A carafe handle that is spaced far enough from the carafe so that you do not burn your hand while grabbing the pot (even if you have big hands). A 2-hour auto-shutoff on the carafe warming plate. And so on. In sum, a highly recommended purchase.

We were worried about purchasing this product after reading the previous review about the lukewarm results. However, we had read so many other reviews of similar machines that we thought it could easily have been user error. When we bought the machine, we actually read the manual very carefully before doing anything. (Not our typical style 
We followed the instructions. We did more than the minimum 5 recommended times of running the machine using water only; it needed about 10 times of this to get really hot — but only on the first time out of the box. The espresso itself can be pretty good, but probably only for a casual espresso drinker. Even for casual sippers such as ourselves, it is easy to pull a shot that is completely undrinkable. (Actually, my husband is less discerning, so we feed him the “bad” shots.) I know what a beautiful espresso tastes like since I work next to a famous Illy shop in DC, and this espresso is, sadly, not the same. But, it is still very wonderful and enjoyable. Very drinkable, if you take care. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
I would like to give another tip, which is that the first 10 or so times that you use the machine, the filter attachment (the thing with the handle) is extremely hard to get to its fully attached position. Fully attached is perpendicular to the machine; this is not indicated anywhere in the manual. So if your machine is LOUD, you may not have this fully attached. It gets easier after a few uses. The machine is not very loud when you use it properly.

A lot of people have complained about installation yet I was able to do it in 15 minutes. Yes, the screws are not the exact length (even though they include three different sizes) but a little adjustment on the grinder made that problem a two minute distraction (or a brief trip to the hardware store could solve the problem). Removing the mounting lid is a little tough but should in no way make you avoid buying this item. It is not that bad, push down on the lid slightly, at the same time forward quickly, and it pops right off.
My biggest concern will be the longevity of the unit and the integrity of the carafe. As far as I’m concerned, all the reviews that degrade this seemingly great product because of the installation issues, are from individuals that have no clue how to install under cabinet appliances. These people need to spend the 0 plus on a higher end unit and see if it is any easier. Believe me, it is not.
So far the only complaint is that is doesn’t look the greatest, but again, its not a high end unit. Its not bad, it will do but it certainly will not be the best looking appliance in your kitchen. If it lasts more than a year or two, I will consider this a good buy as we drink coffee every day.
Brewed my first pot at 5 p.m., went to dinner and brief shopping trip and returned home after two and a half hours and the left over coffee was almost as good as freshed brewed. So far I am quit impressed but will update as I put this to a daily use.
