Pirate bay bought out

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

If you know something about computers and downloading illegal content then you’ve probably heard of Bit Torrent, Bit Torrent is a program similar to limewire or napster in that it is used to download files from the internet that other people have and you want. Other than that 1 similarity Bit Torrent and limewire are completely different, limewire uses a different type of downloading process to get files from 1 user to you, while Bit Torrent takes a file (usually a lot larger, an album rather than a song) from many different sources and arranges it in an order so that the fastest part will download to your system from different users. The key difference is that on limewire you can listen to a song or watch a video while it downloads, with Bit Torrent you cannot, simply because you aren’t getting the file in the order of how it’s being played, youre getting fragments that aren’t complete until the end. Of course that sounds terrible to some people but the real key difference between the 2 is that the fragmentation of the download allows for an album to download at the same speed as a song on limewire.

I’ve been using Bit Torrent for years now and it works a little differently from limewire in another way. As with limewire you can just open the program and search for whatever you want, that’s not the case with Bit Torrent. With Bit Torrent you actually go to different websites like Torrentspy.com Torrentbox.com thepiratebay.org and many others, click a file that then downloads into your Bit Torrent program and begins the file download, this route is pretty good because you can go to a site and look up whatever you want to download and if they don’t have it then you go to another and hope that they do.

Recent news has told us that the key site for downloading torrents, thepiratebay.org, is being bought out. For thepiratebay this is great news, they get to get out with 8 million dollars and not have to worry about the illegality of their business and wonder when the government is going to shut them down. For it’s current users the party is most likely over, the new company that is taking over is already saying that they are going to find ways to make the site legal and pay the owners of the content. I guess this is good for the people who like to play it safe and download their files, but for everyone else this is devastating. It’s already hard to find a good torrent site with a ton of content and thanks to the government any others have been shut down.

With this buyout thepiratebay.org will have until August of this year to continue as it normally does, my advice is to download like you never have, get all the content you can before they start making this crap legal and start making you pay.

If you don’t have Bit Torrent you can get it www.bittorrent.com

as for torrent sites you can still use www.thepiratebay.org until August also www.btjunkie.com isn’t bad and www.mininova.com isn’t bad either. Also check out www.surfthechannel.com for streaming television shows and movies all for free and in good quality. Demonoid.com is a great one but you need to be invited to it, so if anyone has access to invite, hit me up =)
