While trying to decide what kind of portable bed to get my almost 3 year old daughter, I was looking at a few different things. The toddler air mattresses with raised sides, the pea pod plus, and cots like this one. I was concerned about the weight of the air mattress when deflated. Wasn’t sure if she’d like the tent feature of the pea pod plus. And then I found this cot. At 1/4 of the price of the others and how quick and easy it is to set up (2 seconds, not joking), I gave it a try and I’m SO glad I did!
Like I said, it’s super easy to set up. Slip it out of its carry bag (also a plus) and just pull it open. Ready for sleep!
It comes with a sheet which is nice, but I only used it once. My daughter does tend to get colder while sleeping on this. I put on a crib mattress pad and a flanel crib sheet and this seems to have taken are of that problem. Bonus – even with the crib mattress pad and crib sheet, it will fold up and fit in its carry bag no problem!!
The support strap in the middle underneath hasn’t given my daughter any problems yet and even if it does later, then I guess it will be time for a different type of travel bed. It will still have been well worth the !!
My daughter calls it her “blue bed” and constantly asks to sleep on it even while at home.
My nieces have all loved sitting on it to watch tv or play and their ages are 2, 4, and 7. The 7 year old was much too big for it to lay down on but still liked to sit on it.
Very pleased. As someone who frequently travels with my daughter by myself, it is so much easier with this cot!!! The pack n play was just too heavy and took up too much room. This will actually fit in a large suitcase!
Also, on the box, the weight says up to 75 pounds.

I just received this product and it is so cool that I immediately wanted to write a review for it. Super light, stylish and comfortable. But wow, you can tell instantly that this is no pack-n-play. Who wants to tote those things along on vacations? I have done it before, reluctantly, when I was uncertain we’d find a sanitized and comfortable baby sleeping option when traveling. But they are so heavy and bulky to bring. This item is so light and comfortable! I love it! My child is almost 15 pounds (4 1/2 months) and she has room to grow in this. I put her in and she smiled. The mattress in this item is so much better than the pack-n-play. They always say, “do not put in any extra padding or blankets on top of the pack-n-play mattress to keep it safe for baby” But I always did since who wants to sleep on a board with seams? Yuck! This mattress has a rigid bottom but a signigicant foam topper that is plenty for a baby who doesn’t want to sleep on wood. 4 thumbs up from a mommy and baby!

Yes, this sheet is expensive but in this case – you get what you pay for. It is a soft, organic material that fits the mattress perfectly. Other reviews have suggested getting any cheap crib sheet and folding under the excess material but I wouldn’t do that. Our baby is very active when he is sleeping and rolls his way around the crib throughout the night. I wouldn’t be able to sleep if I was worried about the extra sheet material as a suffocation hazzard. We only use our travel crib once or twice per month, so it was worth the extra money to get this high quality sheet that fits properly.

I recently purchased the PeaPod Plus for my 16 month old daughter to use on several recent and upcoming trips. We have a pack and play, but it wasn’t ideal for a number of reasons: she hasn’t slept well in it on past trips, it’s heavier and bulkier than we would like, and we were afraid it would end up damaged during baggage handling. I decided to order the PeaPod bed, and it worked really well for us.
Before we left, I set it up in our family room several times for practice, and it was easy from the first try. By the time we actually went on our first trip, I didn’t even need the instructions to set it up or pack it away. And my daughter LOVED playing in it–she treated it like her personal bouncy house, dragged her dolls and stuffed animals inside, and even pretended to go to sleep in it. We even did a trial run before we left by placing it in her crib and putting her to bed in it a few days before we left. It was a tight squeeze, but she slept well.
My daughter has always been very tall for her age (95th percentile), so we chose the PeaPod plus over the PeaPod for the extra length, especially as she gets older. As a result, it did take up about half of a large suitcase, though there was still room to pack things on top of it. It would be great if it were more compact, but it was a lot better (and lighter) than a pack and play, and we made it work. When we arrived at our destination, she was really excited to “help” set it up and play inside. At night, she slept well, which was our biggest concern and a HUGE improvement over our experience with the pack and play. That alone made it worth purchasing.
The PeaPod Plus has a lot of features that I really like. The air pump worked well for us (my daughter even tried to imitate us using it), and I like that the air mattress keeps her up off of the floor, especially on hardwood floors as the weather turns cold. The sleeping bag is nice, though we used it as a pad because she’s so young. The tent itself is really well designed and feels sturdy–even when my daughter was bouncing around inside, it never seemed like she could tip it over. On the whole, we’ve been really pleased with it and will be using it for many trips to come.
