Yesterday, President Obama threw the ceremonious first pitch at the 2009 All Star Game. This is a tradition dating back to 1910 when President Taft became the first president to throw the 1st pitch. Here is the video:
President Bush may have had the best pitch in presidential history, when throwing the first pitch after September 11, 2001. He threw a strike, but that could be because he used to own the Texas Rangers.

While we were already mourning the losses of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson, God decided that it was time to take Billy Mays. At the young age of 50, he passed away yesterday. The doctors think it was because of heart disease. This man could have persuaded me to do anything. Rest In Peace…
Here is a video of Billy Mays ordering food at a drive-thru which he did for the MJ Morning Show.

Today is National Donut Day and Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts are offering free donuts to celebrate the event. Everyone go out and have one of those nice, warm, melt-in-your-mouth donuts. I know you want to, just look at the picture. Tell me you don’t want any of that. I know I do, but unfortunately I am on a diet so someone has to eat on for me.

Today is the 1st Annual
National Running Day. I normally get up to go run at 5 in the morning, but lately I have been pretty lazy. I was planning to run after work, but I keep trying to find excuses to not do it. I Guess I found my reason to run after work now.

You just have to see it for yourself. Kind of feel bad for Eminem, but him getting all pissed off is kind of unnecessary. People really need to lighten up these days.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to volunteer at the 2009 Jacksonville Jazz Festival selling beverages. We did it as a way to support the Mayport Navy League (a non-profit organization that supports the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard) by putting the word out about them and make some money. I am not a big Jazz fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed the local artists who came out and performed.
I spent Friday evening setting up the booths in the pouring rain with another person. We spent about 3 hours gathering 50 lb bags of ice, soda, beer, and wine to get the booth ready to go when the festivities begin. Since it was raining, the festival committee decided to close one of our booths for the night, which was good for us. Setting up one booth was exhausting enough, I could not even imagine doing it again for the other booth.
Sunday, my father and I volunteered to work the afternoon. We had both booths open, but we had 10 people working between the two. The booth I worked at was right across one of the main stages, so we had a real good spot to see and hear various jazz performers. Also, we had a representative from the Bold City Brewery, a local brewer, selling some of their beers in our booth as a way to get their name out as well.
All in all, working the booths was a success and I had a blast. Next year, the Mayport Navy League is going to work all 7 available booths instead of 2, as a way to get even more involvement and money. I am definitely looking forward to working the festival again in 2010.
