2010 Web Design Trends – Typography

There will be many new design trends for web pages in 2010. A big innovation this year in web design will be the accepted use of varying types and sizes of fonts. Making fonts more interactive and interesting is an easy way to improve your sites overall aesthetic and is very visually appealing to the visitor. Utilizing typography for web design is the next logical step as it has been used for ages in different advertisement mediums. Also, different styles of fonts can easily differentiate content from outlying content around it. If you bold certain aspects in a group of text the reader will obviously absorb that information before the smaller words around it. This will be an important design element in the coming year as sites start to move away from relying so much on graphics and flash for their layouts. How could your site benefit from this typography trend? If you have been planning an re-designing your site try getting 2 designers, a traditional one and another who specializes in typography. This will cost more but in the end you will have 2 different choices of what you want your site to look like. If the typography trend flops sometime this year you always have a back-up design to revert to. Try it out!
