Hackers would prefer to attack a challenge. However, there are those who would do just about anything to crack into an unaware person’s computer and steal whatever lviagratle information there is and whatever little money they have.

As you browse, the internet leaves cookies on your computer. This does not give access to your hard drive, but some of them can store your private information, which is sent through a browser. The best way to deal with this is to clear your cookies as soon as possible.

Some browsers also collect information about you as you fill in forms. This is to make it easier to access later on. You may want to delete these also on a regular basis so that your personal information is not freely available. The best is to not enable auto-complete so that you protect your privacy a little more.

Some banks offer free security software which they maintain will prevent phishing and virus attacks on your PC. This is meant to preserve the information stored on your PC as well. How effective that is can only be seen by how hackers can get into any “armour”, should they put their mind to it.

Over the weekend, search engine giant Google decided to tweak its algorithm so that search results would produce better content. The goal of this shift was to make good content rise in the search rankings and bad, spammy and unhelpful websites that rely on “black hat” SEO practices drop back a few pages: Great news for Internet users; Terrible news for “content mills”.

“Black hat” SEO (search engine optimization) refers to shady and unethical practices for driving traffic to a website. Many content sites, such as WiseGeek, EZine Articles, Suite 101 and Associated Content, that pay writers on revenue share engage in some of these practices by creating extremely similar pages or impostor sites to drive backlinks to their content. All of these took a serious hit after the algorithm change. This tweak is a great thing for web content, though. Content sites need to improve their quality if they want to remain relevant and that will be good for them, good for their users and good for the Internet in general.

Most users who are searching for answers or how-to articles online are very specific in their queries. They don’t want to type in “how to cook a turkey” and get a ton of results that simply use a combination of those words in text or tags and have literally nothing helpful to offer about the subject. They want to see video clips showing qualified people demonstrating how to actually cook a turkey or read clear, concise tutorials about how to do it themselves.

Sensing this trend, some content sites have already begun to shift away from writer-generated articles. Mahalo.com’s CEO Jason Calacanis gave a keynote speech detailing his company’s move to presenting content from credentialed experts, instead of freelance writers. Demand Media’s CEO Richard Rosenblatt defended his company’s content, saying that they consider themselves “very white hat” (above board in SEO practices) and that they are removing duplicate content from their sites to comply with Google’s change. Whether these adjustments will help them regain their standing in the eyes of Google’s spiders or not remains to be seen.

In the meantime, there is still helpful content out in the wild blue yonder of the Internet, even some good content on the sites mentioned above. The best way to find it, though, is to be very specific in searches and then to evaluate the website’s appearance. Sites that are ad-heavy, revenue-share based or unprofessional are probably not going to provide great information.

Not even a few years ago there was a clear distinction between watching television and surfing the web. The devices were different, the quality was different and in general we did one or the other. The <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/hockey/7300697/Hockey-World-Cup-2010-Watch-England-live.html”>2010 World Cup has issued in a new era – or helped finalize it at least.

Today, most movies, radio stations and television shows can be seen via the Internet. No more set times for shows, limited access or poor quality. If you have a browser and an internet connection, you can watch pretty much anything, anytime.

The popular CBS reality show has put GSI Commerce on the radar of the world as a whole. Already in Google’s top trends today, it demonstrates the impact of mass media on making a website popular. According to Rubin, 37 ‘has has every job’ in the ecommerce firm. Nice job turning the airing of the show into a marketing opportunity for the company!

GSI Commerce

The top executive to be featured in the latest episode of the popular CBS reality show Undercover Boss was Michael G. Rubin, CEO and founder of the e-commerce company GSI Commerce. The experiences of the GSI Commerce founder as he went undercover in his own firm and got into the shoes of his employees was aired last night in the show. With the enormous amount of popularity that the CBS reality show has witnessed with its earlier episodes, it did not come as a surprise that the latest episode of the show also received wide viewership.

Last nights segment of Undercover Boss witnessed the 37 year old GSI Commerce founder go to work in his company as a holiday season employee Gary Rogers, who worked really hard along with his other co-workers without giving them the slightest hint that he was in fact their boss. While getting a taste of the day to day activities of his employees, the viewers witnessed Micheal G. Rubin perform a variety of tasks such as unloading trucks, arranging orders of the customers as well as taking calls from customers. Meanwhile, the latest episode of Undercover Boss also showcased the GSI Commerce founder lose his temper over a call center employee who was supposedly rude to a customer registering complaint.

One in particular is the cost; with this you only pay $4.99 a month compared to other website cost which can be $40, wow!

Some other benefits to this amazing website creation tool is that when you’re creating it there’s such a selection it’s most won’t even know where to start. First of all there are over 2000 different designs to start off with. Once you’ve chosen a design then you can go through the process of picking graphics for your website from the 250,000 choices, yeah that may take a while. After you’ve set it up all the way with logos and/or whatever else you want, it’s time to show your website to the world.

Now I know that 2000 designs and 250,000 graphics may sound like a lot but that the good thing with this kind of variety there’s no way your website won’t be just right for you.

Nobody wants to sit down and enjoy thing such as food, TV, and most of all the internet. The internet has definitely evolved over time, from just browsing the web at home for the info you need, to getting it anywhere you go on your cellphone for whatever you want. With this growing desire lots of web designers have started to make there website more mobile friendly. Although not all websites are thinking of compatibility with mobile users, so the mobile creators are making viewing these sites more easy. With all the mobile browsers out there like Windows Mobile Internet Explorer, Skyfire, Opera Mini, Android Browser, and Safari, the designers are aiming for the users ability to view any website from anywhere. The only problem that there facing is simple stuff like flash support, over sized pages, and even widget support, but once these are fixed mobile browsing will be perfect.

It came standard on pretty much every Windows PC until around 2006 when it was replaced by its successor, IE7. Just because this new version was released though doesn’t mean people quit using it. IE6 is still used by many people today; mainly out of laziness or just plain not knowing there are other browsers and updates available. IE6 has been largely panned by the tech community since its inception citing its unimpressive interface and nearly non-existent security features. Despite this it is still used by around 20% of internet users today. After an attack on Google China was determined to be done so through a hole in IE6′s framework, Google has announced it is dropping all support of the browser by March 1st. This means sites like YouTube and the various Google pages like Google News and Google Docs will no longer be supported by the browser. Some wise guys have declared this the official death of the long hated browser and are planning on having a funeral/party for IE6 on March 4th. You can find details about that here. Good news for web designers everywhere! Rejoice! You no longer have to worry about being compatible with this dinosaur! If Google is stopping support for this browser, you can bet it is as good as dead.

Social media integration is becoming key to having a flourishing and dedicated user base. If you want your users to interact with your content you almost have to have your comments synced with either Facebook or Twitter these days. Facebook even has easy to use developer tools here. The dawn of social media has come and if you don’t hop on the band wagon now, you might get left behind. Even blogs such as stereogum.com and bestweekever.tv have social media integration and they are considered titans in the blog world. Not only will you see increased user interaction but there is the chance of having your content spread farther over the web if said users decided to repost your content to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or whatever their social network is. The bottom line is it can never hurt to increase your site’s social media presence.
