What is it about being honest, that is so hard for people?

Is it fear of not being accepted, approved of, or judged?

As marketers, we lie all the time. We want to make things seem better than they are.

In this reversed world of media and hype, being authentic is audacious, rather than the other way around.

Enter social media.

A scary proposition for some, a dream come true for others. Those that truly have value, win automatically. People just tell each other about it. Those that offer no value, but rather rely on ‘marketing’ to drive messages start to get into trouble in this social environment.

Ask yourself, is my company, product or service truly valuable to society?

If it is, it will grow organically.

It if is not valuable, then I say let it die like the millions of other concepts that have come, tried and been left by the wayside.

After all, it’s not up to your marketing department, it’s up to your customers.
