I like sports as much as the next rabid soccer mom. I watch most sports on TV, and I watch my kids play the variety of sports available through the local youth programs. I cheer, I encourage, and I try not to give the refs too much “helpful” advice. What I (and most other adults) have not done in a while, though, is actually PLAY a sport. Sure, I played when I was a kid, but my adult life has tragically been bereft of running bases and taking shots on goal. Which is where JaxSport comes in.

JaxSport is an adult sports-and-social-event organizer in Jacksonville, Florida. Yep, it’s for adults only, which means that the youngest kid on any team is at least 19, and the youngest person at any events with alcohol is 21. There’s no maximum age, though, so you are NEVER too old to come out and play. And you don’t have to be a pro (or even a semi-pro) to join a league; all skill levels are welcome. Grown-ups who want to stay fit, meet people, socialize, work as a team and relive the rush of enjoyment (and competition) that comes from playing organized sports can sign up for a sport or event that interests them. The point is to have fun and be a kid again!

JaxSport offers leagues for softball, soccer, beach volleyball, flag football and even dodgeball (sorry, Vince Vaughn won’t be coaching you).  Want to sign up a whole team at once, like an office team or a group of moms who need to get out of the house? Go for it! Don’t know anyone in town or don’t have enough people for a team? No worries, JaxSport will fill up those empty roster spots with others who are flying solo. Even if you’re brand-new to Jacksonville and haven’t met your own neighbors yet, you’ll make friends in a hurry if you’re working with them to push the ball down the field or bring home a few more runs than the other guys. It’s amazing how quickly you get to know people in a team environment. Kids take it for granted, but as adults, we don’t have many opportunities to experience that. JaxSport knows that sports are for everyone, and there’s no reason kids should have all the fun!
