From it’s origins with the Greeks, The Olympics have evolved into a unifying global collaboration. It is such a great time to learn about other countries, watch hardened athletes give it their all and have a sense of national pride.

Here is the current medal count. It is interesting that so many athletes compete, knowing that most will not place. Typically, the home country has an advantage, we will see how China fares. The U.S. is the all-time medal leader, followed by Russia. Keep in mind that the U.S. and Russia also send more athletes than most countries…

According to the FlatBellyDiet.com website, the diet promises that you get to eat whatever you want, never exercise and conquer emotional eating.

The Olympic torch had just passed through the region on it’s way to the Olympic stadium.

This is the same region that experienced an 8.0 magnitude quake in May 2008 (below).

Early reports for this most recent quake indicate that there was at least 1 confirmed death, and several injuries.

Note: The region impacted is the origin of the popular Sichuan style food.

Dinotopia - a land where dinosaurs and humans live together…

Ok, interesting concept… but why is this suddenly one of the top-searched terms in the world?

A little searching shows that Dinotopia is a book series by author James Gurney.

Ok again, so there is a probably a large following and lots of readers.

But what caused this obscure search term to be ranked 6 in the world by Google trends today?

Obviously there was some sort of external event that happened - a new book, a move, or some some press.

What you can learn from this, is that part of a sound content publishing strategy includes being in tune with data from places like Google Trends and Yahoo Buzz.

Furthermore, as the Internet intersects with traditional media, it seems one of the best ways to get organic traffic is to simply have something offline happen that gets people talking.

Finally, the more search volume there is for given term, like ‘Dinotopia’, the more chance your content has to be relevant to what is already buzzing online.
