I just joined the Social Media Club
by JalaliSocial Media, as it turns out, is nothing new. Social Media is simply a more democratic media, where we decide what is good or bad.
Musicians, politicians, newsmen, environmentalists and everyone-in-between need and want to reach a sleeping audience, and social media may soon be the only way.
That is going to mean growth.
In that growth, it will need standards and rules and even organizations.
My friend Des Walsh introduced me to a group of some of the smartest minds in social media, who are working to help set these standards.
In their own words:
The Social Media Club is being organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media.
Social Media will certainly need some common direction around legality, privacy, ethics and standards and this group appears to be in a position to enable some of that structure.
